Everyone did amazing at our Free “Intro to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu” seminar today.
The beginner BJJ class started with the practice of base and the understanding that we can be much stronger through the use of leverage instead of strength.
From there the ladies progressed to escaping from common wrist grabs and other common controlling attacks used by assailants. This was followed up with a dynamic escape from a choke hold from behind; This technique –consisting of a hip lift and throwing motion– was a great one because it shows how effective BJJ can be regardless of the defender’s size or strength level.
After all the standing technique work was done the class was instructed on how to defend themselves while on the ground. The ladies learned a series of sweep and submission holds that would allow them to stay safe from danger and find a way to escape from the situation.
Big thanks to all of our helpers and thanks to all who came out to join in on the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fun!
